According to a leaked rating from a Korean ratings board, the original Gearbox Software could be bringing an upgraded version of its cel-shaded "shoot and loot" title, Borderlands, to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in the future. Titled Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, this version would make it possible to play all currently released titles in the series on modern platforms.

With Gearbox announcing Borderlands 3 during their PAX East 2016 panel, it makes sense that this release could be planned to placate anxious fans during this extended downtime. Despite rumors of incoming news regarding the series, a Gearbox Software representative has reportedly confirmed that Borderlands will not have any presence at this year's E3 conference.

The latest release in the series was Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, an upgraded port containing both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel released in 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
