In the latest episode of PlayStation Underground, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age got a shining spotlight, with a 17-minute gameplay video released to the public via PlayStation and Square Enix. Check it out below!

The footage itself showcases a band of adventurers delving into one of the game's dungeons, known as the Cryptic Crypt, set towards the beginning of Dragon Quest XI, ending with a gnarly boss fight against a rather fishy foe.

Euclidian architecture dominates the dungeon, with subtle lighting and shading seen to denote a sense of mystery and wonder, juxtaposed with stylishly cute monster designs. As it stands, visually, the title looks to be putting its best foot forward for players.

Famous for popularising turn-based battling for consoles, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age seems to continue to the watermark of the series' combat design, with players utilising attacks, MP-charged skills, and status effects to great effect against a myriad of foes in round by round combat.
Camera control will also be placed in the hands of the player, with the ability to unlock the combat camera from a guided viewpoint to freeform control.

Character customization is alive and well, it seems, with stylish menus depicting skill trees for both the main character and his friend Erik, denoting both skills that can be unlocked, upgraded, and utilized as players make their way through the adventure.

Personally, I am absolutely stoked for the opportunity to be able to play this in the West, and, on all accounts, it looks like a game to watch out for in the future days to come!

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of An Elusive Age is set to release worldwide on September 4th for PlayStation 4 and PC. It will also release on the Nintendo Switch at an as-of-now unreleased date.
