And, well, we're going to discuss that demo in historical terms now, too.

It's time for good news/bad news/bad news, RPGFan reader:

The Good News

...is that NIS America has released a demo version of the PC version of Disgaea 5 Complete, bringing 2017's Switch release to Windows users.

The Bad News

...is that the free demo was being given out in limited capacity for some reason, via a partnership with Alienware Arena, and the available keys were gone in less than a day. So if you got one, enjoy that demo while it lasts (the demo expires May 21st), because...

The Other Bad News

...is that NIS America also just announced that Disgaea 5 Complete will miss its previously-announced (as in, mere weeks ago) May release, and is now coming at an unspecified time this summer, due to what sounds like a serious bug. Per NISA's press release this evening:

"As beta testing has been ongoing, we have been fixing bugs and issues as they were discovered. While working on corrections last night, we came across a new issue that requires additional attention that will take more time to resolve. Unfortunately, until this issue can be resolved, the release date will be postponed, and we are now targeting a release for Summer 2018. We offer our sincerest apologies to all who have been looking forward to this release of the game."

In other words, enjoy that demo if you got it, since you may have to let it sate your D5 needs a bit longer than you expected. Or, at least until it expires on May 21st.

We'll bring you word of an updated release as soon as we know it! In the meantime, you can also read our review of the Switch version.

Update 8:00pm PST: The original version of this story has been modified above to remove mention of enjoying the demo version, as the demo keys that were distributed have been disabled, in relation to this newly-discovered bug. NISA clarifies:

Currently, we have had to disable all demo keys that have been distributed. Once we have determined the game is ready for launch, we will open a new demo that will require the use of new keys.

At this time, we would also like to address the concerns of our fans who pre-purchased this title. We will be posting updates as we continue to resolve the issue. The game can be re-installed as soon as the issues have been corrected. We understand that the change in release timing may affect user experience, so as an alternative, we will also be presenting a refund option. Please access the following link to proceed with a refund: http://bit.ly/D5CPCRefund

So I'll re-close this post by saying that when we get word of a fixed demo version or an updated release date for the final release, we will let you know. Thank you for taking part in this rollercoaster with us.
