Detective Pikachu Finally Heads West This March
Pikachu uses Dark Roast! It's super effective! 01.12.18 - 10:25 AM Released in Japan in late 2016, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have finally confirmed that Detective Pikachu is heading West, and it's coming here in March. It makes sense, given the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie, in which Ryan Reynolds is famously voicing the titular mouse detective. Reynolds isn't voicing Pikachu in the game, but his English voice is at least proper levels of "gruff detective" – no, it's not Danny DeVito – but it will do. The mere idea of a human kid pairing up with a street-smart detective Pikachu is still a concept I can't help but love, and when you have scenes and dialogue like this, how can you resist?
Updated at 9:05am PST: Nintendo also confirmed that Detective Pikachu will retail for $39.99. The Detective Pikachu amiibo will be available the same day for $29.99. The amiibo will reveal "a combination of hilarious content that might also provide a hint" for the game, but Nintendo assures us that these scenes are accessible without the amiibo, which simply provides a "shortcut" to the content, instead of locking them away.
