First off: PRAISE THE GAMING GODS! VALKYRIA CHRONICLES 4 IS REAL! Apologies. That was unprofessional, but necessary: writing that game name makes me a happy gamer.
For those of you as desperate for any bit of Valkyria Chronicles 4 information as I am, I bring you tidings of great joy. Thanks to a recent issue of the Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu, we have a bundle of Valkyria Chronicles 4 goodness to dive into, including the "Brave" system as well as six new characters to the franchise.
The "Brave" system is a new mechanic introduced in VC4: when a member of your army is on the precipice of death, there is a fixed possibility that the "Brave" system will be activated. When Brave is active, you will be given the choice of two options, to either "Entrust" or "Rise Up." Entrust will restore one Command Point (CP) and increases the ability of a nearby ally, while Rise Up will restore one Action Point (AP), and allows you to move and attack once in an invincible state.
As for the six characters detailed in Weekly Famitsu, first off is:
- Crymaria Levinc (voiced by Yukana): A Valkyria known as the "Witch of the Snowstorms." A special duty captain of “X-0,” which is the Imperial Science Institution’s special test unit, she is accompanied by her friend, a wolf named Fenrir.
- Forseti (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa): Tactical commander of the X-0 Imperial military unit. The X-0 unit appears countless times before the protagonist and company. Due to his injured leg he does not participate directly in battle, but he is always confident and composed.
- Belgar (voiced by Shou Hayami): The supervisor of X-0. He has the authority of an Admiral, and wields the X-0 unit to suit his means. He is of noble background and an executive at the Imperial science institution.
- Chiara Rocino (voiced by Yukiyo Fujii): A special member of X-0. She and Nikola were raised together like sisters at the Imperial research institution. Highlighting her sadistic personality, her assignment is the elimination of Belgar’s enemies.
- Nikola Graf (voiced by Naomi Ohzora): Another special member of X-0. She also acts as Belgar’s bodyguard. Unlike Chiara, Nikola is more the malicious type.
- Klaus Walz (voiced by Hiroki Touchi): The captain of “Ausbruch,” an independent gang of the Imperial army. Klaus is a veteran commander, and rides his personal tank into battle. He serves to “protect the people living in the Empire," and does so with conviction
Whew. Stuff and things. Remember folks, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is slated for release at some point in 2018, and will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in the Americas and Europe, while Japan will see in release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch..
