Atlus Japan has released a new trailer for Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, the upcoming Nintendo 3DS remake of the Nintendo DS first-person dungeon explorer, released in 2009.

The trailer contains imagery and ghoulish frames of the mystery awaiting players within the Antarctic, known as the Schwarzwelt, a ghoulish portal leading to parts unknown. Alongside the mystery, something totally and tonally unexpected finds its way into the trailer too. Check it out below!

Shin Megami Tensei Synchronicity Prologue, featuring iconic Atlus mascots Jack Frost and Pyro Jack, finds itself amongst the suspense of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, utilising the side-scrolling genre, reminiscent of Metroid and Castlevania to fight through pixelated levels, where both Jacks use fire and ice respectively to battle their way through!

If you're curious or wish it was a real thing, you're in Jack-blessed luck! Atlus Japan have made Shin Megami Tensei Synchronicity Prologue available via their website, available for players to try out from now until December 24th. Fair warning though, the game is entirely in Japanese, so the full enjoyment of the title might need some passing familiarity with the language to get the full experience. Even still, the option's there, and that, to me, is radical!

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux will release on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on October 26th, 2017, and worldwide in early 2018.
