In the most recent issue of Weekly Famitsu, Nintendo revealed some info on new features and systems for their upcoming game Fire Emblem Warriors, along with two new characters from Fire Emblem Awakening.

Fire Emblem Warriors Robin

Our two newest heroes are Robin, specifically the female version of Fire Emblem Awakening's deuteragonist, who's currently suffering from a rough case of amnesia, and Cordelia, a member of the Halidom of Ylisse's Pegasus Knights. The inclusion of Robin is very interesting, as the male version of Robin has already been confirmed for Warriors. Whether or not these different versions of Robin will be separate characters or simply different "outfits" has yet to be announced.

Aside from these character details, we also received a ton of information on some new and returning features in Fire Emblem Warriors. First off, the "Weapon Triangle" system is making a triumphant return, along with an "efficiency" system. For those unfamiliar with the Fire Emblem series, this means that certain weapons will be stronger or weaker against each other, i.e. Swords beat axes, axes beat spears, and so on. By using this system effectively, the enemy will become prone to critical hits and being stunned.

Movement has become much more important compared to similar games like Hyrule Warriors. Certain routes will only be accessible to flying units like pegasus knights, and all mounted units will move significantly quicker, and make use of new fighting styles which incorporate their mounts! During the heat of battle, if your chosen warriors fighting style doesn't seem to cut it, you'll be able to switch between 4 different heroes on the battlefield. And for those heroes you won't be using, special tactics can be assigned to them, insuring that the AI will constantly keep the battle going.

And in case Fire Emblem Warriors didn't already feel like a mainline Fire Emblem game, Warriors will include a support system, allowing characters who fight side by side to build a relationship with each other, which will give players rewards and allow them to view support conversations. A "Character Lost" system will also be added to the game, which means that characters who fall in battle will no longer be playable in the following battles. It's truly amazing to see how much effort Koei Tecmo has put into Fire Emblem Warriors, ensuring that it captures the essence of Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem Warriors comes out for the Nintendo Switch and New 3DS on September 28th in Japan, and later this fall in North America and Europe. Stay tuned to RPGFan for more news and info on the Fire Emblem series.
