Well, now we're going to have to break the habit of referring to the game as Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time.

Announced this morning via the official Dragon Quest YouTube channel, and by Yuji Horii himself, no less, Square Enix has confirmed that the eleventh mainline Dragon Quest title has been in localization for some time, not only in English, but in four other unspecified languages as well.

In the West, the game will take the name of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, which, even as an amateur Dragon Quest fan, I have to admit is an evocative and beautiful subtitle.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is available on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS in Japan today (July 29th), and is coming West in 2018. Square Enix also confirmed more details will be released this fall.
