Game Awards 2016: New Indie RPG Dauntless Announced
Co-op action. 12.09.16 - 5:56 PM Indie studio Phoenix Labs took to the Game Awards stage to announce their debut project Dauntless, an online co-op action RPG set in an uncharted fantasy world. The game is being developed by several experienced staff coming from acclaimed studios including Blizzard, Capcom, BioWare and Riot Games. The team revealed the upcoming game with a debut trailer that you can view below. The game's world of Dauntless has been shattered by a cataclysmic event, resulting in series of uncharted floating islands. Players will step into the shoes of Slayers whose goal is to hunt down Behemoths. The vicious, cunning beasts consume and destroy whats left of the world and its up to the Slayers to destroy them. Dauntless' environments are ever changing and full of unique wildlife, providing an interesting setting to explore. Dauntless allows players to play solo or join co-op parties with up to four members. Each encounter will be unique with differing challenges and rewards. Rewards from your hunts can be used to upgrade your arsenal through an intricate crafting system. Jesse Houston, president and co-founder of Phoenix Labs released this statement on the company's goal and the inspiration behind Dauntless. Phoenix Labs is made of the most talented and passionate game developers in the world. We make games because we love to play them, and we want to share these experiences with the gamers everywhere. We've taken inspiration from games like Dark Souls, Monster Hunter, and World of Warcraft to create a new, gripping gaming experience. Dauntless will be released in 2017 as a free-to-play title on PC.
