Retro game publisher DotEmu has announced a port of the classic JRPG Ys Origins. The game was originally released in 2006 on Japanese PCs and later localized on western PCs by XSEED, but has never graced the console market. That is until February 21, 2017, when it comes out on PlayStation 4 and Vita consoles.

DotEmu is promising a streamlined UI and optimized visuals for the console experience, as well as translations into French, Italian, German, and Spanish, and English of course. For those who are unfamiliar, here is how they describe the story and setting:

The Ys saga is rich and engaging, and the story of Ys Origin is unique since it takes place 700 years before the events of the first episode published in 1987. Following a devastating demonic invasion, the twin Goddesses use their magic to bring the inhabitants of legendary Ys safely into the sky. While the demons work to construct Devilís Tower and reach the humansí new abode, the Goddesses disappear. You must seek them in Devilís Tower and reveal its secrets.

In Ys Origin, you donít play as Adol ó instead, you can choose between two characters with their own attributes and stories. Thereís Yunica, a talented, mighty warrior whoís adept with the axe, and Hugo, a cunning sorcerer who uses powerful spells to defeat his enemies.

With February just around the corner, DotEmu has also shared a trailer to remind you of why you love Ys games.
