Square Enix and the developers of NieR: Automata recently took to twitter to ask fans whether they'd be willing to shell out for a custom PS4 or PS4 Pro themed after the game. A tweet by Square Enix asks, perhaps jokingly: "Tentatively...and this is just tentative, but we're still asking you. If there was a custom NieR console, would you want it?", with polling options of of "I'd buy it," "I'd buy two," "I'd buy one, and a Pro as well," and "I wouldn't buy it."

Director Yoko Taro followed up with his own joking tweet: "If there was a custom Nier console, what about a "Summer Snow" model with hardened salt in the gaps between the controller's buttons? Let's? Game? We can't, because it'd be full of salt. The motherboard and wiring would rust."

Are the game developers joking or serious? I suppose the only way to know is to vote and see what happens. NieR: Automata comes out on PS4 in Japan February 24th. A western release on PS4 and Steam is planned for 2017.
