TGS 2016: Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.4 Trailer
Don't surrender your soul!
09.19.16 - 10:22 PM

Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida held the 32nd letter from the producer live last night from the Tokyo Game Show. Patch 3.4 is only 10 days away so Yoshi-P cleared up a few of the details on the upcoming patch. A new trailer for patch 3.4 Soul Surrender was also released which you can check out below.

The first of these new details is that the new primal fight will be Sophia of the Warring Triad. Final Fantasy VI fans better know her as the Goddess, and she definitely brings back that nostalgia feeling. With Sophia being the second fight in the series, that means the final Warring Triad primal will be Demon possibly in patch 3.5. From the small glimpse of the fight so far, Sophia seems to have mechanics similar to Levithan in where the floor see-saws back and forth, possibly knocking you off in the extreme version of it. Whatever the case may be, it is sure to be a ton of fun.

Squadrons were also explained better this time around as well. Squadrons are more in line with special missions you send a group of NPCs on in order to find treasures. Think of them a lot like the propositions from Final Fantasy Tactics. You send a specific group with jobs tailored to the requests and if they succeed, they bring back something of value. You can train the NPCs to make them stronger, pick different ones depending on the request, and get some cool stuff in the process.

And lastly, the Wonderous Tails was explained in detail as well. Wondrous Tails will be a list of objectives given to you by Khloe in Idyllshire such as clearing certain instances. If you complete them all you can get some cool new gear and also gain Second Chance points which will allow you to go back and try certain instances again in order to complete them. If you feel like an objective is too hard for you, you can hit the shuffle button to pick some new ones to better fit your playstyle. Basically, fun for everyone!

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward patch 3.4 Soul Surrender goes live on September 27th.
