Visual novels are enjoying a bit of a Western renaissance courtesy of Steam. Some are stellar (Hatoful Boyfriend) while others (Lucy: The Eternity She Wished For) are middling, but there's no denying that there's such a wealth of VNs coming out so regularly that fans of this laid-back genre won't run out of games to play for a good long while.

Magical Eyes: Red is for Anguish is one such visual novel— Not about the hierophantic adventures of Hall & Oates (Sorry to get your hopes up), but rather a mysterious homicidal doll menacing a quaint Japanese suburb. I managed to get through Magical Eyes over a few nightly sessions, but does it make my list of the best things in life? Check out my review, where I lay it all out for you.
