Pokemon GO Tops 5 Million Downloads on Android Devices, Fastest App to Reach Number One in Revenues
It's a Pokemon world and we're living in it. 07.13.16 - 11:42 PM Pokémon GO has been released in select countries for only a week and it has already surpassed 5 million downloads on Android devices. Venturebeat reported earlier that Pokémon GO is now the fastest game to ever hit number one on mobile revenue charts for Android and iOS according to app tracking firm App Annie. "Even though Pokémon GO is only officially open in three countries, the game is generating well over $1 million of net revenue for Niantic Labs," App Annie communications boss Fabien Pierre-Nicolas said. "I can easily envision a run-rate of over $1 billion per year with less server issues, a worldwide presence, and more social and player-vs.-player features." Siliconera also reported earlier that Nintendo's stock price had it's largest stock jump since 1983. Pokémon GO has surpassed other popular apps in usage time such as Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp and more. It's safe to say that Pokémon's 20th anniversary has been a massive success and reinforces the Pokémon series as one of Nintendo's flagship series. Stay tuned to RPGFan for more updates on the game! |
