E3 2016: The Guild 3 Impressions

The third installment of the Guild is almost two different games in one. The early game is an RPG in the traditional sense: Players follow a dynasty of heroes as they complete tasks to earn money, fame, and influence. If the player is successful, the street-level adventuring soon builds into a macro-economic and political simulator in which players vie for influence not only within their fiefdom, but among competing tribes and dynasties. The game is largely open ended, allowing players themselves to define "win" conditions. If the player seeks to rule a vast kingdom, they can do so. If they simply wish to create a merchant empire, they can do that as well. There is an immense amount of content to get lost in for the detail oriented player. Such is the burden of running a kingdom.
The Guild 3 has several different maps that play out as distinct scenarios and geographic schemes. There really are endless possibilities. Although I did not get to try the game myself, I am certain that for the niche gamer who loves managing complex economies, The Guild 3 will have plenty to offer.
