Final Fantasy XIV: Patch 3.3 Trailer & New Media
This trailer just gives me the chills. 05.30.16 - 3:57 PM In eight days, Final Fantasy XIV is getting its next major patch. Patch 3.3: Revenge of the Horde will wrap up the events of the Dragonsong War that began a year ago when Heavensward launched. There's still more major updates coming before a new expansion, so the ending of 3.3 should prove interesting, since we're not yet sure where the story is going to go (despite educated guesses). As usual, with a release looming, Square Enix has released a trailer highlighting all the new features and content in Patch 3.3. Needless to say, if you haven't played Heavensward's story through to the end, this trailer opens on a major story spoiler, so you've been warned! Otherwise, watch below and feel my pain of wanting this music to be released now:
New Raid Dungeon There's three new dungeons in Patch 3.3, with the most noteworthy being The Weeping City of Mhach. This is the continuation of the Void Ark storyline from Patch 3.1, which features the Skies of Arcadia-esque crew of sky pirates and Cait Sith following Diabolos' plan to revive an evil power. As you can see in the trailer, not only does The Weeping City feature some gorgeous outdoor areas, but also that creepy pyramid in the background. And, most fascinatingly, Ozma, a secret super boss from Final Fantasy IX, makes an appearance as a boss! New Gear Every patch comes with it new gear in various categories. This time, there's whole new sets of gear from The Weeping City, seen to your left, below. I'm personally partial to the awesome new tank set (third from the right), and the White Mage/Black Mage sets are also really slick. For crafters and gatherers, there's new shared sets. The new gatherer set is below on the right. Moogle and Dragon Beast Tribe Quests As part of producer Yoshi-P's ongoing efforts to apologize for the overabundance of inane moogle quests in Heavensward, Patch 3.3 will give us a new quest hub with the little fluffballs. These daily quests involve helping the moogles as they assist the dragons in rebuilding areas of The Churning Mists. Like the Ixal quests in the past, these will focus on crafting and building, and, looking at some of these screens, maybe helping a group of moogles with an alcohol problem... More Cosmetic Stuff Our last media update covered other big things like dungeons and story quests, so we have a closer look at some of the more fun additions this time, including a shiny new flying mount and cute minions (want Shiva minion plz). The second row below shows one of the new hairstyles and, yes, the new "wink" emote. Raid Finder Finally, the long-awaited Raid Finder is coming in Patch 3.3. While it will currently only focus on the most recent Alexander content, as you can see below, it will allow players to specify several parameters for finding members, including deciding whether your goal is to practice or clear. You'll even be able to practice specific parts of battle, instead of having to start from the beginning. It sounds like this will be an invaluable addition to raiding in FFXIV, so it looks to be worth the wait.
Final Fantasy XIV: Heavenward - Patch 3.3: Revenge of the Horde launches on June 7. As always, FFXIV is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. And there's a free trial available, wink wink nudge.
