Rhythm Encounter 26 - Bends of Time
Gonna party like it's AD 1999! 05.01.16 - 2:54 PM Caitlin says: 2015 was a very special year for fans of Chrono Trigger and its sequel, Chrono Cross. It was the 20th anniversary for Trigger and the 15th anniversary for Cross (going by the North American releases, anyway). As we at RPGFan are huge fans of the series and its music, we decided we simply must have an episode dedicated to the games and the amazing Yasunori Mitsuda. And we even brought a special guest along for the ride! Check it out below! Mike says: This episode features a track from Sam Dillard's Chrono Cinematica, and during the discussion, we ponder if this talented artist will tackle Chrono Cross next. Since this recording, Dillard has posted a teaser video confirming he's doing exactly that, with a Xenogears/Chrono Cross album in the works. We can't wait! As the editor of our little show, I also want to apologize for the delay in getting this episode out the door. We actually recorded several weeks ago, but I wasn't able to find the time to edit. We're back in, well, a rhythm now, though! We're pre-planning the next several episodes as you read this, so we're working to bring you more episodes in a more timely fashion moving forward. In the meantime, I'm really proud of everyone's efforts and musical selections on this episode, a topic dear to my heart. We hope you enjoy!
We're a little late in celebrating the 20th and 15th anniversaries of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, but alas, we can't travel back in time to bring it out sooner...or can we? Kidding aside, the music of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross is special to many RPG fans, and we at Rhythm Encounter are no exception. In addition to music from the original soundtracks, we also have selections from some of the fantastic arrangement albums that were released in celebration of these anniversaries. We also asked RPGFan Editor Emeritus Liz Maas, a fellow Chrono lover, to join us and share some of her favorite music, so there's a lot to love in this episode!
