During a recent live stream with Dengeki Online, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness producer Shuichi Kobayashi talked about a proposal for Valkyrie Profile 3 saved on his personal computer.

During the stream, Valkyrie Profile 3 was brought up in a discussion about Star Ocean 5's Valkyrie Profile 2 background music content. Kobayashi responded with a dose of reality on how the industry handles sequels saying "if it doesn't sell well, we won't make a sequel." But the man truly cares about the property, and expressed his personal hope that the game may one day happen: "it is unfortunate to say that it would be severe commercially...If the world becomes a place where everyone plays all sorts of games, I may be able to find the next game’s means of escape."

The Dengeki staff followed up saying "then we can have the third V, or also the sixth S" (referring to the third and sixth installments in the Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean respectively) to which Kobayashi replied "To be frank, there is a proposal on my computer. Let me show it already!" This stunned the Dengeki duo who followed up by remarking "Is it really alright to say that here?!”

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria was the last core release in the franchise and came out on PlayStation 2 in 2006 in Japan. Going by Kobayashi's comments, it looks like we won't be seeing the third installment for a while, but perhaps we will see a PS2 on PS4 release of Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria soon to test the waters for the franchise...

A fanboy can only hope.
