The Final Fantasy XV "Uncovered" event held several interesting announcements for eager fans. One of the biggest was the confirmation of the rumored September 30th world wide release date, but there was plenty more from the nearly 3 hour event.
Square Enix is doubling down on the multi-media strategy with a prequel anime called Brotherhood produced by A-1, with the first of five 10-minute episode available now on YouTube. A bonus sixth episode will come packaged with the special edition of the game. The anime will tell the story of how Noctis befriended his three road trip buddies as a young man. In addition, a full length feature film called Kingsglaive will feature the voices of Aaron Paul, Lena Headey, and Sean Bean. It was directed by Takeshi Nozue, who also co-directed the Advent Children film. The film will revolve around King Regis, Luna, and Ardyn, but the main character will be someone else named Nix.
Further, one of the mini-games in Final Fantasy XV will have it's own playable version on mobile. Called Justice Monster Five, it is a pinball game with RPG elements that also features iconic monsters from the Final Fantasy multi-verse.
There will of course be a Deluxe Edition that will retail at $89.99 and an Ultimate Collector's Edition for $269.99. Both will come with numerous artbooks and trinkets, including a copy of Kingsglaive and several DLC items.
If all that has you interested, you will want to look into the new free demo, called the Platinum Demo. It is a standalone story that acts as a prequel and ties into the Brotherhood anime. In it, you experience a dream-world in Noctis' mind that somehow relates to an injury he sustained as a boy. The demo is said to encapsulate the overall feel of the full game, particularly the combat.
