Hot on the heels of the news that Mother 3 is arriving on the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan next week, we've got a review for you of the western release of the game that came first in the series, EarthBound Beginnings.

Originally titled simply Mother, this one's not as well known as its sequel, Mother 2, which is known in the West as EarthBound. And we can probably guess that it's also not as polished as that sequel. But does it become any less playable because we know that other games came later?
