World Of Warcraft is Expanding
New expansion, new movie, new playable class.
11.19.15 - 1:07 AM

Blizzard Entertainment has been quite busy since the unveiling of World of Warcraft: Legion, the new Warcraft movie, the game's 11th birthday! Patch 6.2.3 went live on November 17th, and some hotfixes have already been implemented. Of course, community response has been varied, but the community managers are doing a great job answering questions about what is, and what will come.

Many questions and concerns have arisen from the changes being made to the playable classes with the WoW: Legion expansion. According to the blog, the purpose is to make each class (and the experiences with them) more unique:

Our guiding purpose is to strengthen the distinctive identity of each of our 12 classes and their specializations. The scope of these efforts includes making cosmetic improvements, enhancing existing abilities, adding new abilities, replacing too-generic abilities with more iconic ones, adjusting rotations to better reflect spec identity, and even completely redesigning some specs to carve out a strong identity where previously there was none.

More information was given about the upcoming Demon Hunter class, during the Game Systems Panel at BlizzCon. Pre-ordering WoW: Legion will give players early access to the new class, along with the opportunity to auto-level a character to 100, but where's the fun in that?

The DPS spec Havoc Demon Hunter will use the new resource Fury to do damage, while the Vengeance Demon Hunter is a tank and demon inquisitor, using protective spells and inflicting pain to achieve his goals. Through and through, the incredible mobility of the class is a highlight, and unique skills such as Spectral Sight (which allows the Demon Hunter to see enemies through solid barriers) will add depth to the gameplay.

Fans are celebrating the 11th anniversary of WoW with pictures and stories about their experiences on Twitter. The celebratory in-game event is running until November 30th, so get after the special achievement and the special anniversary gifts. WoW: Legion is set for release on September 21st, 2016. Don't forget the Warcraft movie, which is coming to theaters on June 10th, 2016. We'll see if this is all enough to jump-start subscribers, and maybe bring some of their old base back to Azeroth.
