Retro Encounter 6: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
The Retro Crew asks, "What is a man?"
10.30.15 - 11:21 PM

A new month brings with it a new game; Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is considered one of the most influential games of its genre. Join us as we investigate the validity of such claims. Most of us are experienced with the genre but there is one on the crew that is entirely new to the Metroidvania genre. If nothing else, that should give you a hint on how fun the Castlevania podcast is. Because of the loss of our 6-1 recording and to get the podcast back on schedule, this will the only episode of Retro Encounter for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Listen as Retro Encounter traverses a castle with the surly Alucard.

Retro Encounter 6: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Retro Encounter tackles the classic Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and raises the question of is it best to be the first or is it best to be the best. The Retro Crew discusses our personal history with the series and how that affects our personal thoughts of the playthrough. The beauty of having an inverted castle, playing the game of Richter and the Kojima-esque intro of SOTN is all touched on. We wrap up the discussion with a talk about our favorite horror games of all time and what elements make horror effective.
