Rune Factory, Story of Seasons Thrive While PoPoLoCrois Struggles
Poor, poor PoPo. 08.24.15 - 4:22 AM The small California-based localization / publishing house Xseed has seen great sales from their two recent 3DS games: Rune Factory 4 and Story of Seasons. Rune Factory 4 was released in October of 2013 and has sold over 160,000 units in North America while Story of Seasons was released in March of 2015 and sold over 100,00 units. These games are Xseed's two fastest selling games ever. Numbers like this are incredible for games that are targeted toward such a niche audience, but it seems like fans really appreciate the top-notch work that Xseed consistently provides. On the other side of the globe, Marvelous' next farming game, Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale, is having a slow harvest. The game was released on June 18th and, as reported by Japanese sales tracker Media Create, sold 46,491 copies in its first week which was 58.99% of the initial shipment. For comparison, when Story of Seasons was first released in Japan, it sold 130,782 copies in one week, which was 74.23% sell-through. Maybe the Xseed touch will give Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale the extra boost it needs to find success in America when it is released later this year.
