Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Promises Consequential Choices
You asked for this. 08.12.15 - 2:13 AM In a recent interview with SiliconEra, the executive producer of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Stephen Roy, discussed Eidos Montreal's plans for the highly anticipated sequel. Key details emerged about the game, many related to the use of choice. First, Roy addressed how Mankind Divided will deal with the multiple endings from Human Revolution, saying that the story is related more to the Augmentation Incident (where augmented people were driven mad), than to which ending you chose regarding how to spin the incident in the media. He also promised that choices would have greater consequences this time: for the ending, for who lives and dies, and for the story as a whole. An important aspect of this choice mechanic is the save system, which the team is working on diligently to properly design to avoid "cheating." Further, players will have an array of options for how they want to play. There will be more choices of non-lethal weaponry, for example. And while so-called social boss battles will make a return, Roy said players will be able to avoid combat with bosses if doing so fits their play style. The team also wants hacking to provide more aggressive choices in progressing through levels. Hacking into turrets and cameras will be just the beginning this time around. Finally, we have some new screenshots from Gamescom for your viewing pleasure. Check out the full update in our gallery. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided comes out in early 2016 for PC, PS4, and XB1.
