Arnie Roth has since issued a correction of his earlier statement to his Facebook page:

Dear friends,

In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY concert in Pittsburgh. Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from FINAL FANTASY XII, regrettably, the term 'remake' was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert.

We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.

Final Fantasy Distant Worlds composer Arnie Roth let it slip out at their recent concert in Pittsburgh, that a Final Fantasy XII remake is in production. During this announcement, Roth motioned to Final Final Fantasy XII composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, which seemed to confirm something is going on. Roth probably meant remaster and not remake, as a remake of Final Fantasy XII after the announcement of the Final Fantasy VII remake seems very unlikely. You can check out the announcement below.

Last December Square Enix producer Shinji Hasimoto did hint at more Final Fantasy re-releases for the PlayStation 4 after the announcement of the Final Fantasy X and X-2 Remastered. If it is a remaster of Final Fantasy XII, then it will hopefully include the International Zodiac Job System. This version of Final Fantasy XII was never released outside of Asia, and is considered by many to be the definitive version of the game fixing a lot of criticisms the original game received.

Hopefully this isn't just a rumor and turns out to be true. Whatever happens though RPGFan will keep you updated.
