Including the first teaser trailer.

To kick off their E3 2015 press conference, EA have announced the next entry in their epic RPG series: Mass Effect Andromeda. While details are scarce at the moment, EA did show a teaser a trailer which you can watch for yourself below.

There's a few noteworthy items to take away from the short visuals, including what appears to be some sort of jetpack and the potential for open world-style areas. Mass Effect Andromeda is set in a new galaxy, which fellow editor Rob Steinman suspects is because we messed up the old one (he didn't say "messed," but you can use your imagination).

No release date has been set yet, but it will arrive for the holidays in 2016 on unspecified platforms.

Update: Following the trailer's debut, BioWare made a blog post to accompany the announcement. Studio GM Aaryn Flynn and director Yanick Roy reveal the title was in its planning stages back in early 2013, when Mass Effect 3's Citadel DLC, its final content, was released. Currently BioWare's Edmonton, Montreal and Austin studios are all working on the title.

They also shared more on Andromeda itself: You will once again play as a human, male or female, with an all-new cast and yes, that is a new Mako you saw in the trailer. The character in this trailer, however, is not the playable character. Lastly, the trailer (and eventually the game) runs on the Frostbite engine, which is also used by DICE's Battlefield series.

We can expect to hear more details on Mass Effect: Andromeda later this year.
