The upcoming Nintendo 3DS remake of Atelier Rorona: the Alchemist of Arland, called New Atelier Rorona, has a new trailer showcasing the game's updated combat. Players initiate battle by touching a monster in the field and get a preemptive strike if they can hit the monster with a field attack. Combat takes place on a tactics-style grid where positioning is key. The enemy's formation will effect who the player can target with AoE spells and attacks from behind will deal greater damage. In addition, choosing to "auto-attack" a particular enemy will direct a party member to focus on a particular enemy however the AI sees fit. After an initial delay, New Atelier Rorona will come out June 4th in Japan on the 3DS. A Western release has not been announced.
