The PlayStation 3 version of the first Borderlands has been without multiplayer since last year when GameSpy Technologies closed; the closure leading to a number of 2K Games losing their online functionality.

Gearbox Software has restored multiplayer services to Borderlands with a new matchmaking system for North America and Europe with a patch. PlayStation owners also received bonus updates to friends list functionality, improvements to voice chat and a fix for the "And They'll Tell Two Friends" silver Trophy (Played in a co-op game with either an employee of Gearbox or someone who had this trophy).

The update is now live in North America and Europe, so get out there and start shooting with friends. Japan will be getting an update soon.
