The Bard's Tale creator Brian Fargo and his studio InXile Entertainment announced at PAX South that the fourth installment in the series is planned for release this year. The studio plans to hold a crowdfunding campaign to help meet this goal. The game promises to blend modern visuals and sound with classic locales and themes from the 30 year old series.

— Brian Fargo (@BrianFargo) January 24, 2015During a panel discussion at PAX South, Fargo said the game was special to him in part, because it was the first major release for his old development studio, Interplay, back in 1985. The Bard's Tale 4 is planned for a PC release.
