In an interview with Famitsu, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment producer Yosuke Futami mentioned that a sequel will likely soon be on its way. After the success of the PlayStation Vita title, Futami said, "I'm thinking about setting up plans for the sequel."

In a separate interview, Futami spoke about the most recent update to the game in Japan. He mentioned the new content will include three new bosses, and the option to date and see new event scenes with female character Sachi. While the game is a single-player RPG, the material it draws on follows the virtual world in an MMO, and Futami wishes to release content in the same way an online game would.

Unfortunately, whether or not we'll see these updates in the west is still up in the air. "The update won’t be built into the Western release of Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment," he stated. But all hope isn't lost, he continued, "We’re currently considering to bring the large scale update from Japan over."

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment will be released on August 19th in North America and August 20th in Europe on PlayStation Vita digitally.
