Free-to-Play-Style Bravely Default Launching in Japan
Well, more like an extended demo... with in-game purchases.

In a move that will likely scare many, Square Enix have released the first four chapters (nearly half the game) of Bravely Default on the Nintendo 3DS eShop for free in Japan. It's not entirely complete though, since the voice acting has been removed and some of the AR movie features have been cut.

After hitting the end of the "extended demo," players can purchase the rest of the game (including the previously mentioned missing features) for 2,000 yen. This is the For the Sequel version of the game, which came with some new additions not present in the original release (which the western release already included).
