Final Fantasy Explorers to Feature Advanced Technical Maneuvers
Along with monster recruiting, chocobos, and maybe even an airship. 07.05.14 - 9:29 PM In a recent interview with Famitsu, Final Fantasy Explorers director Atsushi Hashimoto and project manager Takahiro Abe provided new details about the game's difficulty, monster recruiting, and the world it's all set in. The developers touched on that many Final Fantasy fans may feel a bit unfamiliar with action games, but that they would like to be sure that those new to these types of titles and those who specialize in them will both find enjoyment. "I'd like to make [the game] into something that even those who aren't the best at action games can enjoy," Atsushi Hashimoto explained. "There will also be things like specific actions that can be used to cancel abilities, and other technical maneuvers for those who are confident in their skills to enjoy." Takahiro Abe then added, "Think of it as something that has the strategic nature of an RPG, together with a focus on combining jobs and abilities that just about anyone can enjoy." He then continued on to state, "Of course, we also plan on adding high difficulty quests that will have you going, 'is this even possible to clear?' So people who excel at action games will have plenty to look forward to." The two also touched on the "Resonance System", which will allows players to combine abilities. This system will give players access to perform cooperative maneuvers that can then transform regular abilities into different and more powerful versions. Abe went on to hint that it may be possible for players to combine abilities, even when they are further away from each other, mentioning that many times players would be exploring the fields and need assistance. The developers also briefly touched on the fact that the title is very close to being an open-world game, and that transportation will be key. Abe hinted, "When it comes to Final Fantasy... airships come to mind." Sadly, they did also confirm that Chocobos, while in the game as monsters that can be recruited, will not function as mounts for players. On the subject of monsters, they went on to explain that recruiting a specific monster means obtaining a special item drop. Once obtained, this item can be taken back into town and converted into a monster. Of course, the stronger the monster, the harder it will be to obtain. Final Fantasy Explorers is currently in development for the Nintendo 3DS.
