Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies Exclusive Track Sample
GENTLE LOVE gently loves you with sleepy songs... and an exclusive NieR arrangement! 04.30.14 - 4:06 PM This past April, Scarlet Moon Records (responsible for the Dragon Fantasy Book II, Monarch, and Saturday Morning RPG soundtracks, among others) announced their latest album, Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies. As the name might suggest, this release will feature a collection of game music arrangements in a peaceful, lullaby-like style. Responsible for the tunes are Norihiko Hibino (of Metal Gear Solid fame) and pianist AYAKI, who together form the group GENTLE LOVE. Leading up to the album's release, Scarlet Moon has been steadily unveiling the tracklist, which thus far includes arrangements from classics like Donkey Kong Country, Demon's Souls, and Secret of Mana. And today, they've unveiled that the album will also include arrangements from Final Fantasy VII and NieR, the latter of which RPGFan is pleased to be able to showcase a sample of! The NieR arrangement is based on the track "Song of the Ancients" from the original soundtrack, and is presented in a smooth, jazzy style. Regarding the Final Fantasy VII tune, Scarlet Moon has teased that the source track won't be one of the more frequently-arranged ones, like "One-Winged Angel" or "Aerith's Theme." While we'll be sure to have a full review of the album on release, you can check out the exclusive sample of NieR's "Song of the Ancients" below!
