Bandai Namco Games America (officially) announced today the much-speculated release of Tales of Hearts R for Vita, alongside Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, also for Vita, and a Tales of Xillia 2 Collector's Edition.

Tales of Hearts R is the first portable Tales game Bandai Namco has released stateside since the 2007 release of Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, though several releases have hit Japan since then. Hearts R follows a young man named Kor Meteor, who lives in a small seaside town and trains with his grandfather. His grandpa gives him a special weapon called a Soma, which can only be used by those who have a high amount of Spiria, the source of life in this world. He meets up with a girl named Kohaku Hearts who has been cursed by a witch. In an attempt to save her, he destroys her Spiria Core and embarks on a quest to restore Kohaku's emotions.

"The Tales Of franchise has experienced incredible fan support and positive reception due to the fantastic artwork, storytelling and combat systems that the developers have been able to deliver again and again," said Chris Gilbert, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Bandai Namco Games America. "With a proven track record of bringing quality RPGs out to the West, we are confident that PlayStation Vita users can really look forward to hours of solid entertainment from Tales of Hearts R."

Tales of Hearts R is currently slated for a Winter 2014 release date.

No details have been unveiled regarding the North American release of Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, other than its Summer release, though it does launch in Japan this week.

Also announced was the Tales of Xillia 2 Collector's Edition, which features the game, a Ludger Kresnik figure, a replica of Elle's Pocket Watch, a Rollo plush charm, music selection CD, art book, and costume DLC (including Yuri from Vesperia and Asbel from Graces). The package will retail for $129.99 and will release on August 19.
