Compile Heart's next PlayStation 3 title, Fairy Fencer F, is developed by the team behind Hyperdimension Neptunia, and you can tell. The art style is similar due to sharing the same artist, (but less futuristic and more fantasy-like), and, as it uses Neptunia's battle system, there are transformations, and other battle elements which share similarities.

So far, the cast looks... interesting. We have Pippin, a bear (or is it a cat?) with a sword stuck in his head. I wonder if he gets constant headaches. However, each character gets their own special attack later on in the game, each with their own advantages and drawbacks, like cost. That's when that sword comes in handy - Pippin's special is called Excalibur.

This is Harler, the game's scientist and one of the fencers. She's kind of messy, but her bald fairy Bahas looks after her and cooks and cleans. Watching her trailer below, there's no way her chest is safe on the battlefield nor in a lab.

One of the main features in Fairy Fencer F is the ability to influence the game's world. You can cause the dungeons to impose rules like more EXP or 'no magic use' - but many effects, like double damage, would apply to both your characters and the enemies. Of course, this adds an element of strategy, since certain rules with seemingly difficult enemies can possibly make them a lot easier.

One dungeon, the Tower of Syukesh, will grow taller depending on how you use the world influence feature. As this dungeon seemingly stretches on forever, and you never know what might be waiting around the next corner (or when the imposed rules might screw you over), you can leave the tower anytime. After finishing the game once, here you will find new enemies.
