Blizzard To Shut Down Diablo III's Auction House
But not until next March.

Though Diablo III has been very successful since its launch last year, and its very recent console release garnering a lot of praise, one feature has been constantly criticized: the real money auction houses. And rightfully so. Diablo is all about finding loot the hard way by killing things, and paying real money for these items takes away from the thrill of the hunt - not to mention allowing people with too much money (or too high of a credit limit) to essentially 'pay to win.' (Which, again, ruins the fun.)

Blizzard, though having temporarily closed the auction house system in the past, has finally decided to scrap this 'feature' altogether. The company realizes that the houses were taking away from Diablo III's gameplay, as well, they're planning to introduce a Loot 2.0 system alongside the upcoming Reaper of Souls expansion. The gold and real-money auction house will remain open until March 18th of next year.
