Some Final Fantasy Agito Details
No, it's not Type-0... but it's closely related.

This week, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy Agito, an iOS and Android title with a very familiar name. In case you've already forgotten, Final Fantasy Agito XIII was the original name of Final Fantasy Type-0, the PSP title released in Japan two years ago but never overseas.

The first part of the game deals with Orience, Type-0's world. The following chapters make up the main storyline, which will be largely dependent on player choices (for replay value, of course). Each chapter contains about two weeks of play: ten days are solo play, where you play one of the characters, while the other four are team-based battles, usually involving bosses. Though a chapter will be reeled every two weeks, the team has not yet decided how many there will be in total.

The player-character is a customizable cadet. His or her 'action power' stat is consumed when you take on missions, but refills over time like other F2P mobile titles. We can expect to see some of Type-0's cast in Agito, plus new faces such as Myu Kagerohi, a representative cadet. Depending on how you treat certain characters, they will support you differently in battle.

Producer Hajime Tabata, who had the same role for Type-0, says he wanted to expand on the main characters from that game, originally intended as a mobile title itself. As well, he and the team were still 'fond of' the title Agito, and so they created Final Fantasy Agito. A free-to-play-game with in-game purchases like items and continues, it is due out on iOS and Android devices this winter.

Even though the West never saw Type-0, will we get Agito? Square Enix's mobile releases are usually global, and it was recently discovered that they have actually registered two 'Final Fantasy Agito' trademarks in Europe, one of them the game's logo. Well, that's promising. If it also somehow paves the way for an overseas release of Type-0, even better.
