Pokémon X and Y Media: Evolutions, Mega Evolutions And More
You even get to hear about the non-Pokémon!
09.13.13 - 4:47 PM

Pokémon X & Y have all kinds of mega-evolutions, many of which are still being revealed. So who gets a mega-evolution now? Mewtwo, of course. Depending on which of the two games you're playing, with the right stone he can evolve into Mega Mewtwo X (Fighting/Psychic) or Mega Mewtwo Y, whose special attack sees a huge boost. And then there's Garchomp: His Mega Garchomp form turns his arms into blades, his attack and special attack also see a boost, as does his Dragon Claw movie.

Nintendo also detailed the partner Pokémon that you choose from and how they evolve. Chespin's evolved form is Quilladin, whose shell and spikes grow even harder allowing it to defend, repel and strike back at opponents, and learnt he skill Mud Shot. Fennekin becomes Braixen, who can set a little twig aflame and also use Psyshock to lower an enemy's defense. Finally, Froakie evolves into Frogadier, which sees him fly higher/further, and gains him the Bounce skill, effective against Grass types.

You'll also come across new Pokémon who have multiple different forums: Furfrou, who's as poodly as he(she?) sounds, requires attention in the form of grooming. The loyal Pokémon learns Baby Doll Eyes, allowing the user to make the first move regardless of stats. There's also Meowstic (Psychic), who, devoid of emotion and expression, learns one of two moves depending on its gender. Male Meowstics get the ability Miracle Eyes, which guarantees you'll hit no matter the target's evasion stat, and females have Extrasensory, not only dealing damage but causing the opponent to flinch so they can't move on their next turn.

We also learned that players can change just about any part of their trainer's outfit when they visit any of the boutiques in Kalos Region. Team Flare (Five Scientists) has also been introduced, and with a name like that no one should be surprised by their bright red jackets. Celosia, Aliana, Bryony, Mable and the only male, Xerosic, all want to change the world, but how? Aside from the Scientists, players will also meet Diantha, a movie star and another Pokémon trainer.

Aside from the video above, you can find plenty of new related screens and artwork in our gallery. Pokémon X & Y for Nintendo 3DS go on sale on October 12th worldwide.
