E3 2013 Hands-On Impressions: Final Fantasy X HD Remaster
Listen to my HA HA HA HA! This may be our last HA HA HA HA!

The day when you'll be able to relive Yuna's emotional pilgrimage draws near. Final Fantasy X HD Remaster for Playstation 3 was present at E3, and it looked more beautiful than ever. Not content to simply upscale the game's graphics, Square Enix actually recreated all of the game's textures and upgraded the character models, resulting in one of the best-looking HD collections to grace the system.

I was immediately impressed by how well the game holds up today, now that it's been spruced up. The tropical aesthetic and vibrant color palette of Spira are still a joy to behold, especially in crisp 1080p. The game's battle interface has received a small facelift as well, with sharper text for character names and damage popups. Still, despite how pretty everything looks, it's important to remember that Final Fantasy X HD Remaster has the bones of a Playstation 2 game. The animations remain unchanged, meaning that Tidus won't be jumping around with the same fluidity as Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII. Despite its age, Final Fantasy X remains a paragon of the genre, and all but the most staunch opponents of the game should be pleased with this (very) enhanced port.

If you haven't seen the most recent for the trailer for the game, it's below, but be warned that it contains major spoilers.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster will release on Playstation 3 (as one package) and Vita (as two separate games) later this year.
