Mike and I got to play some DC Universe Online on a real live PS4 today. Sony Entertainment Online plans to make the over 11 million account MMO a launch day title for the new console, while remaining free to play as well.
With the PS4 version of DCUO being displayed right alongside the existing PS3 version, the difference was clear to see. The graphics and animations looked extremely crisp.
Sony Entertainment Online also hopes to release a DCUO companion mobile app for iOS and Android in time for the launch of the PS4. The companion app will allow players to access certain aspects of their account and their characters, as well as give them the capability to voice and text chat with friends in the game.
DC Universe Online sustains itself on a DLC game pack model where additional content above and beyond the free to play game can be purchased by players. As a free to play game, it should see a nice bump with the release of the PS4 since it provides a free way for a PS4 buyer to show off the capabilities of their shiny new console.
