A medic, a paladin, and animated cutscenes appear! Command?

Atlus recently has shared a few videos on New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Maiden, a Nintendo 3DS remake of the series' first title, which is described as a re-imagining, and tells the story in a more detailed fashion. As the main character you have help in the likes of Frederica, who has lost her memory, and Simon Yorke, who, like the hero, is into investigating old ruins.

Simon is also a medic who comes in handy with lots of healing, recovery, and status-curing spells. Level him up and he can cure the entire party.

And then there's new characters like this paladin, Racoona Sheldon. She's of noble blood.. but has quite the fondness for food.

Going back a bit further into these videos. Atlus had recently revealed that animation studio Madhouse (who has also worked on Persona titled, among others) is providing the animated cutscenes. The very first trailer gives us a look:

There's also a guild house where players can use items that will give them stat increases, take on requests, and equip Grimoires. These are rocks that contain skills from other enemies and classes, that can be used on any character.

The game will have two modes: a story mode where your party is automatically chosen from five preexisting characters, and a classic mode, where you can freely create your own characters and choose your party from them at will. Aside from this, there are three difficulties to choose from, as well as a choice of background music that was recorded live, or synthesized tracks.

New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Maiden for Nintendo 3DS goes on sale in Japan on June 27th. The title so far does not yet have a Western announcement.
