Square Enix Releases Chaos Rings for Windows Phone, Final Fantasy V for iOS
But wait until you hear the catch for Chaos Rings. 03.28.13 - 3:18 PM Square Enix announced the release of two mobile titles today. First off is the expected release of Final Fantasy V for iOS. A universal app at the price point of $15.99 USD, it features re-drawn sprites and environments specifically for the mobile version of the game. Also included are the bonus dungeon and boss from the 2006 port of the title. Second, and unexpected, was the release of Chaos Rings for Windows Phone. One of Square Enix's first games for modern smartphones, Chaos Rings was originally released for iOS almost three years ago to some very positive acclaim, including a 90% review here at RPGFan. But here's the catch - the Windows Phone version of the game is not yet available for Windows Phone 8, only WP7.5. For those who don't own a Windows Phone (read: everyone but me and like 10 other people), that would be like releasing a game today for iPhone, but not having it compatible with an iPhone 5, just an iPhone 4 or 4S. According to the Square Enix Europe Twitter account, the WP8 version is "Coming Soon." Chaos Rings is available today for WP7.5 for $9.99 USD.
