It's been three whole days since the last update on Neverwinter, and today we have a pretty full plate, so let's get to it!

First, we have new media showing off Icespire Peak. It's in this chilly region that you'll meet the Icehammer dwarves. Dwarves, as they're apt to do, are mining in the area when they stumble upon a portal to Winterforge. Dormant upon its discovery, the dwarves inadvertently activate it and unleash an army of ice golems. If that wasn't bad enough, the Winterforge is seized by frost giants, in an effort to expand their dominion. We have a handful of snow-covered screen shots of these events, as well as this video, with narration that's much more dramatic than my text. Check it out:

Next up, we're giving the lovely undead their closeup. And in Neverwinter, the undead don't sparkle like rainbows in the sun, but instead are as grotesque and terrifying as undead things should be. They too are in the gallery, and get their own footage, with undead dwarves, pirates and more:

Finally, with Beta Weekend 2 starting March 8th at noon, we have new details on just what kind of content you can look forward to if you're able to play:

  • As usual, signing up at the Neverwinter official site gives you a chance to get into the beta. This time around however, lifetime subscribers of Champions Online and Star Trek Online (both from Neverwinter developer Cryptic) can get in on the action too.
  • The Control Wizard class debuts to beta players, and comes equipped with a set of ranged attacks, arcane magic, and AoE effects.
  • Beta Weekend 2 includes even more adventures created by other players with Neverwinter's build-your-own-campaign Foundry tool.
  • The level cap has been raised to 40, and with it comes new high-level zones, such as Helm's Hold and the burial grounds of Ebon Downs. And because Dungeons & Dragons cannot be complete without dragons, the Lair of the Mad Dragon awaits as well.

As always, look for continuing coverage of Neverwinter as the game nears its full release later this year.
