Gas Powered Games Launches Kickstarter For "Wildman"
RTS-RPG hybrid from Dungeon Siege veteran Chris Taylor.

There's a good chance you've played a game helmed by Chris Taylor of Gas Powered Games. Taylor was not only the designer of RTS titles like Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander, but also on all three Dungeon Siege games. This experience, combined with Gas Powered Games' experience on the MOBA Demigod has drawn them to create a new hybrid of these three genres, titled Wildman.

With a $1,100,000 goal, the folks at Gas Powered Games are looking to provide, "the union of our experience working on pure RPG and RTS games, and we’re pulling some of the best features from our past games into the Wildman experience." They're looking to take the core RPG experience from Dungeon Siege, the army and tech trees from Supreme Commander, and the MOBA-style arenas of Demigod and mash them all together in Wildman.

It looks like most of the primary team from Gas Powered Games has been pegged for the title, including not only Chris Taylor, but designers Eric Williamson and Steve Bauman, engineering architect Chad Queen, and artists Kevin Pun and former Blizzard employee Stu Rose.

So why would a larger, independent studio like Gas Powered Games turn to Kickstarter? From the page: "We've already started work on Wildman, but we need your help to finish it. We want to follow more closely the examples of companies like Valve and Blizzard, who iterate on as many ideas as possible before settling on the "right" features.

With that in mind, we have intentionally left some areas of the game's design wide open. This isn't to say we don't know what we want to do, or that we lack direction or focus. Instead, it's an indicator that we're hoping we get to make Wildman a bit more organically, with your feedback."

Backers can get a digital copy of the game for as low as $30, but reward tiers go up to as much as $10,000. For more information on Wildman, check out the Kickstarter page.
