Indie JRPG 99 Spirits To Be Localized
Obscure indie games for the win!

Japanese indie game localisation company Fruitbat Factory have recently announced they will be localising a little known JRPG called 99 Spirits, developed by TORaIKI.

The story follows Hanabusa: a young girl living in the Heian capital within medieval Japan. After her mother is slain by evil spirits, her life turns into one of vengeance as she sets out to hunt and destroy the spirits. These spirits take the form of ordinary objects and are known as Tsukumogami.

Battles in the game are rather unique, but follow a turn-based system. When first encountering a Tsukumogami, you are unable to do anything except attack and defend, as well as parrying or counter-attacking with good timing. Once you obtain the special Goukan sword, you will be able to fill up your powers through attacking and blocking. As the power in the sword fills up, you get hints as to what object the enemy Tsukumogami may be. Once you think you know, you type in what it is. If correct, the enemy is revealed. Once revealed, the fight truly begins.

There are over 100 Tsukumogami in the game, and plenty of secret abilities and skills to unlock. The game is set for release in early 2013 on PC. Check out our gallery below and keep checking in for new details as they emerge!
