Bravely Default: Flying Fairy Update
New jobs, summons, and character designers.
10.04.12 - 1:48 PM

Square Enix recently shared a few more tidbits from Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, mostly through Dengeki Online and regarding summons, some more jobs and their guest designers.

The summons, for starters, won't be of the Final Fantasy variety. For example you've got Prometheus the fire-breathing train, Ziusaudra's Sin the woman who floods everything with water, Hraesvelgr, the plane/bird who predictably causes Wind damage, Girtablilu who causes the ground to shake when he slams his claws down. and Deus Ex (no, not Adam Jensen) which builds up electricity and lets it loose in the form of lightning.

As for jobs, Bravely Default adds to the list a paladin, who can increase the maximum brave points allowed, and a magus, the powerful black mage who's got the best magic stats in the game. There's also the devout, who is also powerful but with white magic. This class is great for healing and increasing BP. And, likely to become a favourite, dark knight can use up his own HP to execute his (probably powerful) abilities, and gets some stat boosts when he takes damage too.

Some of the jobs and characters are drawn by guest designers, too. Soul Eater creator Atsushi Okubo worked on the Valkyrie and Einherjer Venus look.

Foo Midori looked after the mad scientist Kada's design, and the Chemist costume...

Illustrator Hideki Ishakawa (Lord of Vermillion Re:2) created Nicosguy Boritori, another villain, and the Merchant job:

Take (Katanagatari) designed rival Victoria and the Magus outfit.

Finally, Makoto Tsuchibayashi, one of Sengoku Basara's character designers, came up with both Izumi Kami's look and the Swordmaster's.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is out in Japan next Thursday. If like many of us, you're unable to import, you can sample some of its music here.
