Mass Effect 3 Gets Patched, New Multiplayer DLC Announced
These new enemies look familiar. 10.04.12 - 1:04 PM BioWare today released a significant patch for Mass Effect 3, one they had promised would help set up for 'future... things.' Turns out those future things are new multiplayer DLC - the first since the Earth pack - and the biggest one yet. Titled Mass Effect 3: Retaliation, brings new weapons, classes, 'hazard' versions of the maps ...and new enemies. No, your eyes don't deceive you. Yes, those are Collectors. Remember them from Mass Effect 2? And if that isn't enough, the existing enemies each gain a new class, too. Appropriately the new weapon unlocks are all Collector rifles: of the assault, SMG and sniper rifle variety. New ammo mods will also be unlockable, as will two new classes for the turian species: Havoc Soldier and Ghost Infiltrator. The 'hazard maps' are a spin on the regular maps, with one of six hazards in effect: Acid, Lightening, Meltdowns, Sandstorms, Swarms and Whiteouts. Finally, the free DLC has a new Challenges database feature. As you complete challenges, you earn points that can be used towards custom titles and banners. The Mass Effect 3: Retaliation pack will be available next Tuesday, October 9th for no charge, while PSN players in Europe can download it on the 10th. The fourth patch for the game is out today; a laundry list of fixes for both single and multi-player is here, and this patch is required if you plan on grabbing Retaliation. If you want to get some MP in before then, BioWare is running the Operation Overdrive challenge this weekend.
