Gungho Online Entertainment America Forms, Has Jun Iwasaki As President
That's the former Square Enix USA and XSEED President. 09.27.12 - 9:48 AM GungHo Online Entertainment America (GOEA), a division of Japanese game publisher GungHo Online Entertainment, has announced its formation as well as its initial lineup and president. The new company will be headed by Jun Iwasaki, who was president of Square Enix USA and left to form publisher XSEED Games in 2004. According to GungHo's press release, "Mr. Iwasaki will use his expertise in international partnerships to strategically secure and launch key titles from the GOE-owned studios Game Arts, Gravity and Acquire, as well as from external developers in Japan and elsewhere." "Our quest at GungHo Online Entertainment America is to seek out the best new titles for the rapidly growing community of online gamers, which has always been a passion of mine," said Iwasaki. "Our inaugural lineup reflects a strong portfolio of network-oriented games from skilled developers such as Game Arts with plans for more to be announced in the coming months." GOEA's first titles will be the following titles: Dokuro, a puzzle-platformer for the PlayStation Vita and Picotto Knights, a "social action RPG" for the Vita featuring the "Ghost" system, allowing players to summon avatars of friends who aren't online. Dokuro will hit in October, while Picotto Knights is scheduled for 2013. GOEA will also be heading the release of other GungHo games worldwide, including the release of Ragnarok Odyssey in Europe before the year's end. They will also support several other GungHo titles, including mobile titles Puzzle & Dragons, a puzzle/RPG hybrid slated for november and Princess Punt 2, another such hybrid set for 2013.
