Star Wars: The Old Republic Goes Free-To-Play
Who didn't see this coming?
07.31.12 - 4:38 PM

BioWare and LucasArts' Star Wars: The Old Republic is just the latest MMORPG to join the free-to-play ranks. Starting sometime this fall, SWTOR will become free-to-play up until level 50. Free-to-play accounts will of course have other restrictions as well, but you can buy cartel coins (the new currency) for in-game purchases at the equally-new cartel market.

You can still purchase the game - for $14.99 starting August 7th - and get a month of unlimited access for free. As well, you can still choose a subscription account which gives you unlimited access to new content and updates, plus you'll be granted a set amount of cartel coins per month of subscription.

There are a few ways in which every account can earn some cartel coins, which can be found here. The rest of the FAQ on the free-to-play option can be found here, and of course, there's the main website.

Stay tuned for updates on new content and a launch date for the FTP option!
