Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Goes To Earth
A new difficulty, more DLC maps, characters and weapons coming next week. 07.11.12 - 10:09 PM With the recent release of the extended cut, BioWare's Mass Effect 3 is still being played by many a fan - and so is the multiplayer. Next week, the MP will get yet another free DLC update: The long-rumoured Earth content will include, as always, new maps, characters and weapons, but there will also be a new difficulty as well - Platinum! (I wonder if this means that banshees will show on on wave 1 if you're fighting Reapers. Do not want.) The maps are Firebase Vancouver, Firebase London and Firebase Rio, which are just as they sound like. New weapons include the Piranha assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol, and Typhoon assault rifle. Finally, all six of the new characters will be human classes: Destroyer Soldier, Paladin Sentinel, Demolisher Engineer, Slayer Vanguard, Shadow Infiltrator, and Fury Adept. As always, weapons and classes are unlocked via reinforcement packs. In addition, one of the many multiplayer weekend challenge will run this weekend. In Operation Broadside, extract any one of your party members against Reapers on Gold difficulty and your whole squad will receive a commendation pack. If 400,000 total squads extract (across all difficulties), then everyone who participated will get a victory pack. The challenge runs from this Friday at 1PM Eastern to Sunday (July 15th) at 1PM Eastern. There has also been rumours (as well as proof in the Extended Cut files) of a new single-player DLC, called Leviathan. The content supposedly revolves around a rogue Reaper and delves more into the sentient AI's origin. BioWare is apparently going to announce the content at this weekend's San Diego Comic Con, so stay tuned! As always, the Earth DLC will be free. The content will be available next Tuesday, July 17th on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, with the exception of July 18th on PS3 in Europe. Be sure to check out our gallery for some recent concept and key art!
